Established in 2012, Motor Squad was founded by active police motor officers who saw a need to share the skills and experience learned over the course of their careers with civilian riders to reduce motorcycle accidents.
M.T.I. acquired P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) approval for an 80-Hour Basic Police Motorcycle Course for Region 9 in California for both gas and electric police motorcycles.
M.T.I. now offers a 40-Hour P.O.S.T. approved electric "ZERO" motorcycle course (No pre-requiste for Electric course. Officers who want to receive training on gas powered police bikes would need to complete the P.O.S.T. 80-Hour Basic Motorcycle Course).
In addition, M.T.I. offers pre-training for officers who are preparing to attend basic motor school.
We also provide beginner, intermediate and advanced training for civilian riders as well.
All instructors with MTI are P.O.S.T. certified. We provide police motorcycle training for Law Enforcement all over the United States. We offer a Basic 80 Hour Motorcycle Course, a 40 Hour Electric "Zero" Motorcycle and a Motor Instructor Course.
This course will provide the student with the minimum knowledge and skills to operate a police motorcycle. The course consists of lectures and hands-on/practical skills training. Student learning activities include; Inspection of motorcycles for safety functions, street cone patterns, off-road cone patterns, stop practical’s and off-road course practice. Methods for assessing learning: Skills evaluation and test on cone patterns and motorcycle stops to be graded by instructors using POST standards.
This course is designed to both mentally and physically prepare motor officers to operate a police motorcycle while performing a variety of law enforcement duties safely and effectively. Extensive time will be utilized by the course instructors towards building the students skill level as well as their confidence level when riding a police motorcycle.
The course curriculum strongly emphasizes the safe, competent operation of the police motorcycle while paying particular attention to acceptable standards of rider capabilities and judgment.

P.O.S.T. does not require students to complete the POST Basic Police Motorcycle Course to attend the Electric Course.
However, this course does not qualify you to be a certified motor officer for the gas powered police bikes. That would required completion of the POST 80 Hour Basic Motorcycle Course.
This ourse (POST ID # 1491-32576) is a POST Plan IV.
